Coronavirus: Second Wave is Coming In the United States
As the anti-epidemic measures for new coronaviruses around the world are gradually relaxed, some countries have seen a new wave of infections recently.
According to statistics from Johns Hopkins University in the United States, the number of diagnoses worldwide has exceeded 9.6 million, and nearly 500,000 people have died.
Recently, newly confirmed cases have caused people to worry that there may be a “second wave” peak of the new coronavirus epidemic. The number of confirmed infections in some countries where the epidemic has slowed down has risen again significantly.
Here are a few countries with peak infections.
United States
The number of confirmed cases of new coronavirus continues to rise in many US states, especially in the southern and western states.
The number of new coronavirus diseases admitted to hospitals in Texas, Utah, Arkansas, Arizona and other states has risen. California and Florida saw the largest increase in newly diagnosed cases in a single day.
The beds in the intensive care unit at the Houston Hospital for patients with new coronavirus diseases are approaching full capacity.
New York, New Jersey and Connecticut used to be the epicenter of the new coronavirus epidemic in the United States, but now in turn require visitors entering from certain states to isolate themselves for 14 days.
According to data from Johns Hopkins University, close to 3 million cases have been diagnosed in the United States and more than 130,000 people have died.

Germany
Germany has previously been regarded as a model for European countries to fight the new coronavirus disease. The key anti-epidemic measures include virus screening and epidemic follow-up investigations that began very early, so it can maintain a relatively low number of infections and deaths.
However, many new cluster infections have suddenly erupted in Germany in recent weeks, including some nursing homes for the elderly, refugee reception centers, meat processing factories, schools and religious places.
The most serious of these is the meat processing plant. The Tönnies meat processing plant in North Rhine-Westphalia has about 7,000 employees and is the largest meat processing plant in Germany. In total, more than 1500 workers were infected.
In addition, cases of mass infections have also been reported in a relatively small meat processing factory in Lower Saxony. People have accused the poor working environment of the meat processing factory in Germany and the poor living environment of the workers as the reasons for the spread of the virus.
Cases of mass infections in meat processing plants have led Gütersloh and neighboring Warendorf to implement blockade measures again.
These recent outbreaks of group infections have also caused Germany’s basic infection number “R value” to climb again to 2.88.
According to data from Johns Hopkins University, more than 190,000 cases have been diagnosed in Germany and 8,933 people have died.
Brazil
Brazil has more than 1.18 million confirmed cases and nearly 54,000 people have died, making it the second highest country in the world.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was accused of trying to conceal Brazil’s new coronavirus epidemic. The Brazilian Ministry of Health earlier stopped publishing daily confirmed cases and deaths, was accused by the public and intervened in the Supreme Court Only then will the published data be replied.
Last Sunday (June 21), Brazil had 55,000 newly diagnosed cases, setting the highest number of diagnoses in a single day, but this number is partly due to data delays in some states, so it may include the data of the previous day.
On Wednesday (June 24), the number of newly diagnosed Brazilians was 42,725. Although it has declined, it is still high, with 1,185 deaths.
India
India’s newly confirmed cases in a single day broke through a new high again this week. On Thursday, the number of newly diagnosed cases reached 16,922, surpassing 15,968 people the day before.
Data from Johns Hopkins University shows that more than 470,000 cases have been diagnosed in India and 14,894 people have died.
According to the Indian Ministry of Health, Maharashtra, New Delhi and Tamil Nadu are the most severely affected areas, accounting for about 60% of all confirmed cases in India.
Among them, the increase in the epidemic in New Delhi is particularly worthy of attention. Reporting on local medical resources is limited and it is difficult to track and investigate the epidemic.
Globally, India’s new coronavirus epidemic ranks fourth, after the United States, Brazil and Russia.
