Coronavirus: WHO: The Novel Coronavirus "Will Not Disappear"
WHO: The Novel coronavirus “will not disappear”.
On September 18, a senior official of the World Health Organization said that the new Coronavirus “will not disappear” and pointed out that about 50,000 people still die every week from the new Coronavirus.
Mike Ryan, Executive Director of WHO’s Emergency Programs, said at a news briefing at Geneva headquarters: “The virus has not disappeared. It has not disappeared. It has not disappeared! Especially for those countries that are about to enter winter, people will gather more indoors. That’s not what we want.”
He added: “In order to avoid the spread, reduce the spread of this epidemic, protect the opening of schools and protect the most vulnerable people in our society from serious diseases and deaths, there is still much work to be done.”

On September 20, Professor Zhang Wenhong, director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Huashan Hospital in Shanghai, China, and director of the Department of Internal Medicine at Fudan University Shanghai Medical College, also discussed this issue in a public event. Will the novel Coronavirus always exist? Professor Zhang said that, as far as the current situation is concerned, even though it seems that very strict social distancing has been adopted, it has not blocked the transmission chain of the new coronavirus. If the social quarantine is done a little bit more severely, the spread will be lower, and if the social quarantine is not done enough, the virus will start a small outbreak.
Professor Zhang also mentioned the novel Coronavirus vaccine, “If you get enough vaccination, you can eradicate.” But he also mentioned that humans do not necessarily like vaccines. If you don’t fight, you can’t build an immune barrier. There is also an uncertain factor, that is, the source of transmission in nature is still unclear.
Therefore, social quarantine is still required and necessary.
